The Panavia Tornado (officially Panavia PA-200 Tornado but better known as the Tornado MRCA - Multi Role Combat Aircraft) is a multirole fighter aircraft with variable-sweep wing. Developed jointly by the United Kingdom, West Germany and Italy, there are three main variants of the Tornado: the IDS (Interdiction and Strike) for ground attack, the ECR (Electronic Combat/ Reconnaissance) equipped for air defense suppression and the ADV (Air Defence Variant) interceptor.

Developed and built by Panavia Aircraft, a multinational company formed by British Aerospace (formerly British Aircraft Corporation), MBB and FIAT Velivoli (now Alenia Aermacchi), the Tornado first flew on 14 August 1974 and was used in action by the RAF, the Italian Air Force and the Saudi Arabian Air Force in the Gulf War. Including variants, 1001 were produced.
