The Frecce Tricolori, whose full name is Pattuglia Acrobatica Nazionale (National Aerobatic Team), forming the 313th Aerobatic Training Group, are the national aerobatic team (PAN) of the Italian Air Force. They were founded in 1961 following the Air Force's decision to create a permanent group for collective aerobatic training for its pilots. With ten aircraft, nine in formation and one solo, they are the largest aerobatic team in the world, and their flight program, comprising around twenty aerobatic displays and lasting about half an hour, has made them the most famous. Since 1982, they have operated Aermacchi MB.339 A/PAN MLU aircraft, and are based at Rivolto Airport (UD).
