Obi-Wan Kenobi, also known as Ben Kenobi, is a character in the Star Wars science fiction series. One of the most important and recurring characters in the series, he is played by Alec Guinness in the original trilogy and by Ewan McGregor in the prequel trilogy and the Obi-Wan Kenobi miniseries; he also appears in the film Star Wars: The Clone Wars, in the series of the same name and in Star Wars Rebels.

Initially Qui-Gon Jinn's Padawan, he and his Master are involved in the Battle of Naboo against the Trade Federation's droid army. After Qui-Gon's death at the hands of the Sith Darth Maul, he is promoted to Jedi Knight and is assigned the young Anakin Skywalker as his student. The two, who have become great friends, become generals of the Republic and legends during the Clone Wars. Following Anakin's passage to the Dark Side and the birth of the Empire, he exiles himself on Tatooine and becomes, years later, Luke Skywalker's mentor, who will direct his path towards the ways of the Jedi.
