The Goonies is a 1985 adventure film directed by Richard Donner. The screenplay by Chris Columbus was adapted from a story by Steven Spielberg, who also served as producer.

The film's name comes from a group of four boys who grew up in a neighborhood in Astoria, Oregon called "Goon Docks." From the name of their neighborhood, the boys call themselves the 'Goonies.'
