Green Arrow is an American comic book character published by DC Comics, created by Mort Weisinger and George Papp in 1941.

He is a superhero nicknamed "the Emerald Archer", who operates in the city of Star City, with a dress and methods that are very reminiscent of Robin Hood and equipped with special objects and devices, such as a bow and arrows that he creates himself, with various functions and enhancements, such as the glue arrow, the net arrow, the boxing glove arrow, tipped with kryptonite and other similar ones.

The original (and current) Green Arrow, Oliver Queen, was not a significant hero during his first twenty-five years of publishing. But in the late 1960s, Dennis O'Neil and Neal Adams gave him, after having made him lose his fortune, a role as a staunch defender of the working class and the underprivileged.

In 1970 he was joined by Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) in a more adult and socially mature series in which the two protagonists balanced each other; where Green Arrow supported the need for direct action, Green Lantern responded with the need to cooperate with the system and institutions; where the former was interested in social change, the latter was more concerned with the criminals to be neutralized.
