The Grumman F-14 Tomcat is a twin-engine, two-seat, variable-sweep wing, supersonic fighter aircraft. Developed in the United States in the late 1960s, the aircraft was born in response to the United States Navy Naval Fighter Experimental (VFX) program, which followed the failure of the General Dynamics/Grumman F-111B project.
