The Italian Job is a 2003 film directed by F. Gary Gray, released in Italy on July 11 of the same year, starring Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Jason Statham, Edward Norton, Seth Green, Mos Def and Donald Sutherland.

It is a remake of the 1969 film The Italian Job by Peter Collinson starring Michael Caine.

A group of expert American robbers, led by John Bridger and Charlie Crocker, pull off a million-dollar heist with a perfectly studied tactic, stealing a safe containing gold bars from a palace in Venice and managing to empty it underwater, thus eluding the police. Once in the Alps, the perpetrators of the heist are about to divide the gold equally, but something goes wrong: while they are walking on the edge of a dam, the group is the victim of an ambush planned by Steve, one of them, who kills John Bridger, steals the bars and causes the van with his former companions to fall into the frozen lake below. Charlie and the others, however, manage to escape and return to the United States, eager for revenge against the traitor.
