The 1989 Alfa Romeo SZ (Sprint Zagato) is one of the boldest and most polarizing cars in automotive history. Nicknamed "Il Mostro" (The Monster) for its brutal, boxy lines, it was the result of a radical collaboration between the Alfa Romeo Style Center and the Zagato coachbuilder.

Beneath the composite bodywork beat the legendary 3.0-liter Busso V6 engine, capable of unleashing an unmistakable sound and a power output of approximately 210 hp. Thanks to a refined mechanical layout derived from the Alfa 75 racing car, it offered phenomenal road holding, with record-breaking lateral acceleration for the time.

Today, produced in just 1,036 units, the SZ is a collector's icon: an extreme stylistic experiment that perfectly embodies the mechanical and nonconformist spirit of the Biscione.
