The 1989 Alfa Romeo SZ (Sprint Zagato) is one of the boldest and most polarizing cars in automotive history. Nicknamed "Il Mostro" (The Monster) for its brutal and angular lines, it was the result of a radical collaboration between the Alfa Romeo Style Centre and the Zagato coachbuilder.
Underneath its composite body, the legendary 3.0-liter Busso V6 engine roared, capable of delivering an unmistakable sound and approximately 210 hp. Thanks to a refined mechanical layout derived from the competitive Alfa 75, it offered phenomenal road holding, with record-breaking lateral acceleration for its time.
Today, produced in only 1,036 units, the SZ is a collector's icon: an extreme stylistic experiment that perfectly embodies the mechanical and unconventional spirit of the Biscione.
