The magnet measures approximately 3 x 4 cm

Under this name the Virgin Mary became Patron of the Carabinieri on 11 November 1949, the date of promulgation of the relevant Brief by Pope Pius XII, who in this sense had accepted the unanimous vote of the military chaplains of the Carabinieri and of the Military Ordinary for Italy.

The title of "Virgo Fidelis" had been requested in relation to the heraldic motto of the Arma "Faithful through the centuries"

The feast of the Patron Saint was set by the Pope himself on the 21st of November, the day of the Presentation of the Virgin Mary.

The Carabiniere's prayer to the "Virgo Fidelis" is by Archbishop Carlo Alberto Ferrero of Cavallerleone, who was Military Ordinary in 1949.

Here is the text:
"Most sweet and glorious Mother of God and ours, we Carabinieri of Italy, raise our thoughts to You with reverence, our prayers with trust, and our hearts with fervent hearts!

You, whom our Legions invoke as comforter and protector with the title of "Virgo Fidelis"

You welcome all our good intentions and make them strength and light for our homeland.

You accompany our vigilance, You advise our speech, You animate our action, You sustain our sacrifice, You inflame our devotion!

And from one end of Italy to the other, it arouses in each of us the enthusiasm to bear witness, faithfully until death, to our love for God and our Italian brothers. And so be it!"
